Counselling for North Vancouver Residents
RCC counsellors serving North Vancouver residents from our nearby Ambleside office. Depth-oriented therapy in English & Farsi. In- person or online.
North Vancouver and West Vancouver are different cities with the same mountains. We work with residents of both, in our Ambleside office or online — and for many of our North Van clients, especially the Persian-speaking ones, the short drive across Capilano is well worth it.
If you live in North Vancouver — Lower Lonsdale, Central Lonsdale, Lynn Valley, Edgemont, Deep Cove, Capilano, or any of the neighbourhoods in between — Baraka Ontology & Clinical Counselling is one of the most accessible options on the North Shore for depth-oriented, RCC- credentialed therapy.
Our office at 1571 Bellevue Avenue in Ambleside is approximately 10–15 minutes from most of North Vancouver via the Lions Gate side of the Trans-Canada or via Marine Drive. For clients who'd rather not drive, we offer the full practice online via secure video across British Columbia.
We work in English and Farsi (Persian), with a clinical focus that includes trauma, depression, anxiety, couples and family therapy, postpartum mental health, ADHD counselling, grief, burnout, and the deeper work of meaning, identity, and major life transition.
Why North Vancouver clients come to us
North Vancouver has one of the largest Iranian-Canadian populations in Canada — particularly across Central and Upper Lonsdale, North Vancouver district, and the surrounding neighbourhoods. For Persian-speaking residents looking for culturally fluent, depth-oriented counselling in their own language, the options are still surprisingly limited. Our Iranian-born clinical lead Elham Zolfagharinia, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), works natively in Farsi and English, with full clinical depth in both languages.
- (See our anchor pages: Persian/Farsi-Speaking Therapist → Counselling for Iranian Immigrants in Vancouver →.)
Beyond the Persian-Iranian community, we also see substantial numbers of North Vancouver clients who are:
- Healthcare professionals working at Lions Gate Hospital and surrounding clinics, navigating burnout and the emotional cost of patient-facing work
- Tech and finance professionals working from home or commuting downtown, often presenting with anxiety, sleep disruption, and identity dislocation post-pandemic
- Parents in the perinatal year, especially in Lynn Valley, Edgemont, and Lower Lonsdale where young families are concentrated
- Couples navigating cross-cultural relationships, in-law dynamics, infidelity recovery, or the slow drift of long marriages
- Adolescents and young adults (with family physician referrals) presenting with anxiety, identity, and family-of-origin patterns
Getting from North Vancouver to our office
By car. Marine Drive west across the Capilano River, or Trans-Canada via Taylor Way and a left onto Marine Drive. Most North Van neighbourhoods are 10–15 minutes from our office; Deep Cove and Lynn Valley closer to 20.
Free street parking is available on Bellevue Avenue and surrounding streets.
By transit. The 240 (from downtown) and 250 (along Marine) connect North Vancouver to our area. The SeaBus connects Lower Lonsdale to Waterfront, with bus transfer.
Online. For many of our North Van clients, secure video sessions are simply easier on the schedule. Online therapy at Baraka is the same therapy — same therapists, same depth — without the drive.
Persian-speaking clients in North Vancouver
If you live in North Vancouver and have been looking for a Farsi-speaking counsellor or psychologist with credentials recognized in Canada, Baraka was built in part for you. We work in Farsi without translation cost, with full cultural fluency, including:
- Immigration grief and identity reconstruction
- Intergenerational and political trauma (revolution, war, displacement)
- Family-of-origin and in-law dynamics that are normal in Iranian culture and rarely understood by non-Iranian therapists
- The particular shape of Iranian-Canadian relationships, raising bicultural children, and navigating life between two cultures
- Depression, anxiety, and somatized distress as they show up in Persian-Iranian cultural context
(See: Counselling for Iranian Immigrants → for a deeper exploration of this work.)
