LGBTQ2S+ Affirming Counselling
Queer-affirming counselling in West Vancouver. Coming out, identity, relationships, family, minority stress. English & Farsi. Free 15-min consult.

Affirming therapy is not a specialty add-on. It is the basic clinical and ethical posture that should be available everywhere — and still, in 2026, it isn't.
Baraka Ontology & Clinical Counselling provides queer-affirming, trans-affirming, and two-spirit- respectful therapy at our Ambleside office in West Vancouver and online across British Columbia. We work in English and Farsi, and we are explicitly aware of the additional layers that LGBTQ2S+ clients from immigrant, religious, or culturally conservative backgrounds — including the Iranian-Canadian community — often carry.
What "affirming" actually means in our practice
It means we do not treat your sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship structure as the problem in the room. It means we have read the literature, kept current with the research, and continue our own learning. It means we work with the pain that may be present around your identity — minority stress, family rejection, religious wounds, internalized shame, transition stress, dating-pool fatigue, body dysphoria — without ever positioning the identity itself as something to be cured, modified, or made "more acceptable."
It also means we are honest about the limits of our expertise. None of our clinicians claim every sub-population fully. Where another clinician would be a better fit — for example, for clients seeking specialized trans-affirming medical-care navigation, or for clients seeking a clinician of a particular identity who can offer a level of mirroring we cannot — we will say so, and we will help you find that clinician.
